What is Legacy Square?

Onward Ottawa is a 501c3 Foundation of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Franklin County Development Council. The leadership of this board identified downtown revitalization important to drive our community’s future economic growth and positively affect housing and community development.

In September of 2019, the Foundation developed a pavilion and park venue located
at the intersection of First and Walnut Streets in Ottawa named Legacy Square. The Flint Hills Trail (FHT) intersects with the Prairie Spirit Trail (PST) at this location and together the two trails border the new Legacy Square venue.

Legacy Square features a green space of over 20,000 square feet, covered canopies, and a large covered pavilion providing outdoor event space for all manner of events including health fairs, mobile health clinics, art fairs, car shows, farmers’ markets, amenities for people using the trails, concert events, bike safety “rodeos” for young riders, competitive run/biking events, drive-through flu clinics, flea markets, holiday lighting ceremonies with music performances.
